Confidence Through Competence: Meet Levi Caprara and Nick Rossi of Top Tier Boxing
Share
I recently had the chance to talk with Top Tier Boxing co-owners and coaches Nick Rossi and Levi Caprara to talk about what they have built in Belgrade, Montana. We covered the experiences that shaped them, the discipline that carried them through the hardest seasons, and the coaching philosophy that now defines their gym. What stood out most was how clearly their success ties back to the same fundamentals they teach every day: show up, stay consistent, and earn confidence through competence.
In Bozeman, Top Tier Boxing has become a home for people who want to get stronger, sharper, and more confident, whether they are training for competition or simply building a better routine. Co-owners and coaches Levi Caprara and Nick Rossi have created a gym where technique comes first, culture matters, and progress is earned through consistency.
Top Tier offers boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, youth bully proofing, and strength and conditioning, with a free first week to try it out.
Driven by Purpose, Built on Discipline: Levi Caprara
Levi’s path into boxing started with a tough lesson early in life. After being bullied by an older kid, he and a friend decided to check out a local boxing gym. His friend never showed up, but Levi did, and he kept coming back. Six months later he had his first fight and he was hooked.
When Levi talks about progress, he does not point to one magic moment. He points to consistency. By his third year of competition, he says he hit a breakout stretch where his style started to click, and he gained the confidence that comes from real improvement.
That same approach shows up in how Top Tier coaches today. Levi and Nick teach strong fundamentals, especially footwork and head movement, then help each athlete build a style that fits them. The goal is not to force everyone into one technique; It’s to meet people in the middle and help them grow.
Confidence Through Competence: Nick Rossi
Nick started training after watching a UFC fight on TV. A close friend told him he had been training for years, so Nick tried it. After stepping into the cage for the first time, he was hooked. Later, after leaving California, he took a long break because he could not find a gym that reminded him of what got him into the sport.
Then he met Levi. They aligned on what a gym should feel like, how training should be coached, and what a real culture looks like.
Nick’s coaching is built around smart volume management. Combat sports already place a heavy load on the body, so Top Tier balances high intensity strength days with sparring days, then uses lower activity days to support skill progression while still building athletic capacity.
For everyday members, Nick keeps it simple. Two days a week is the baseline for real development, three days a week accelerates progress fast. At Top Tier, they call it “confidence through competence.” Build the skill, and confidence follows.
From the Gym to the Armory: Building the Local Fight Scene
Top Tier is not only developing athletes, they are building the local combat sports scene. They put on multiple events each year because, in their words, no one else was doing it consistently.
Their New Year’s Eve Fight Night at the Kimpton Armory in Bozeman brought a different level of energy, and Levi describes the venue as “more electric.” For Top Tier, events like this are about creating a memorable experience for both fighters and the community.
Try Top Tier, Then Fuel Your Routine
If you have ever been curious about boxing or kickboxing but felt intimidated, Top Tier’s process is designed to make the first step easier. New visitors start with a one-on-one session with a coach before jumping into class, and the gym culture is built around helping beginners, not testing them.
